Hey everyone, Happy New Year!
Firstly, let me apologise if we, “Tokyoflash” haven’t been giving enough feedback & response on the blog. The reason is that we are just really, really busy. To give you some idea, at the time of writing, there are about 30 watch designs at various stages of development.
Secondly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has sent in a design, contributed to or commented on the blog. We are so pleased that you guys have made this the best watch design blog we have ever seen. There are literally hundreds of awesome ideas pouring in from all over the world and people are even building new friendships though their passion for design.

Quite often in life people have similar ideas & inspirations.
There are some famous cases where several inventors came up with the same discovery – For example: the invention of the telephone is sometimes disputed – Manzetti, Bell & Edison all worked on the idea.

Heather says: My favorite type of display for a watch is a digital, read-at-a-glance, “always on” display that appears cryptic to the outsider. I started with a rectangular four-quadrant format for the digits. By cutting out circular pieces I found that I could create some recognizable yet abstract looking digits. Ignacio says: The original idea came from my brother Jose. He showed me a sketch with 4 crosses and I helped to develop it and made the renders.

Laszlo says: Binary LCD watch with always on display for geeks in silver or black version.

Peter says: I was visiting the gym and noticed various posters promoting the 2012 olympic games. The main image associated with the olympics are the olympic rings, a set of interlinked coloured rings. I started thinking that it would be nice to use interlinked rings to tell the time. The result looks similar to the trinity symbol.

The design is about decoding the time with coded numbers. Decoding method is read up to down for hour and left to right for minute and second. The watch design can also be used tell the date.

Lloyd says: This watch design is called “EOBOT” and was inspired by the robot I had as a kid and those that appeared in classic sci-fi movies like the The Day The Earth Stood Still and Forbidden Planet. It’s called “EOBOT” because the display uses different coloured lights to indicate even (E) and odd (O) digits and the pattern of lights together with a circular head forms the shape of a robot.

Laszlo says: It’s a simple LCD watch design. The time is always on display.
Massive, stylish case and strap. The position of dots on the display than the traditional numbers, except for the middle four spots. These are just a one-minute show. Very easy to read the time. The display background was always lighting paint coating (20 years of continuous light output).
This highly increases the battery life. The inverted display mode is also available.
