A press of the button activates the LED matrix, which animates across the screen to reveal the time, a second press can skip to the date.

This is a great watch for dressing up and going out with. It's solid, no lightweight, so it feels like your wearing something with a bit of a kick to it. With the display inset & slung over there's no risk of damage to the watch even if you walk into a lampost - not that we recommend trying that though.
