Xtal Wood LED Watch
The mysterious Kisai Xtal Wood watch combines a crystalline shaped natural wood case with a faceted mineral crystal lens and a cryptic yet simple to read LED time display.
Available in dark sandalwood with red or green LEDs or maple wood with blue or white LEDs, this very limited edition watch design includes two different time display modes, date mode, alarm and six user-selectable animations.
A Wooden Watch With Digital Time or Cryptic Time
There are two time modes programmed into Kisai Xtal Wood. The first is regular mode and displays time in a row of four stylized hexagonal LED digits.
The second mode is cryptic mode. To outsiders these LED shapes look like an alien code but are in fact the same digital numbers with the middle line removed. The 8 is an exception but it's easy to learn.
The date and alarm time is shown in the same way and you can choose 12 or 24 hour time mode.
Kisai Xtal Wood is easy to read when you know how but creates a sense of mystery for onlookers.
Japanese Watch Design In Natural Wood
Like all wood watches from Tokyoflash Japan, Kisai Xtal Wood has been carefully crafted from 100% natural wood.
The watch has an adjustable strap and weighs just 72 grams, a lightweight watch design suitable for small and large wrists. A clear coating has been applied to Kisai Xtal Wood for protection and durability.
An LED Watch With Customisable Light-Up Animation
Kisai Xtal Wood features six different user-selectable animation patterns (see the animations above). When turned on, your choice of animation will illuminate the display every 15 minutes between 6pm and midnight. You can turn this on or off in the settings.
The watch is USB rechargeable which means you'll never have to change the battery. To recharge, connect to your computer with the USB cable provided.
One full charge will take 3.5 hours and each charge should last for at least 2 months between charges.

Concept to Reality
In February 2010, Tokyoflash Japan opened its Design Studio Blog to showcase concept designs and request ideas for new watch designs from fans. The idea for Kisai Xtal was submitted by Sam Jerichow from Germany.
Blog reader & watch designer Sam Jerichow says:
Tokyoflash's recent love for wood gives already cool watches a new appeal. Wood on your wrist is a statement. It's one step more non-mainstream than usual.
Now i'm the happy owner of a wooden Xtal and I must say it looks like something not from this world. The simple geometry is just perfect for wood. The dark sharp lens is a nice contrast to the natural casing and keeps the mysterious appearance of the original version.
Thank you Tokyoflash for this cool version of Xtal. Also thank you to my supporters!!
