Online Wood LCD Watch
A limited edition watch with a cryptic time display made up of vertical lines, Kisai Online Wood uses a built in accelerometer to reveal the digital time when you turn your wrist.
Available in two styles, all dark sandal wood or maple wood with dark sandal wood lines in a choice of natural, blue or red LCD display, Kisai Online Wood features time, date, alarm and animation.
Turn Your Wrist To Reveal The Digital Time & Date
Kisai Online Wood is a digital watch so is as easy to read as any other wrist watch. The "always on" display is made up of vertical lines which look like a cryptic pattern to outsiders.
Turn the watch towards you and the lines fall away to reveal the time in hours and minutes. One push of the lower button changes the display to date mode which can be read in the same way as the time.
The digits that make up the time are easy to learn. The diagram below shows cryptic mode at the top and regular mode below. Click the buttons below to scroll through the numbers:
A Custom Made, Limited Edition Wood Watch
Like all wood watches from Tokyoflash Japan, Kisai Online Wood has been carefully crafted from 100% natural wood and is a limited edition design.
The watch has an adjustable strap and is a lightweight design suitable for small and large wrists. A clear coating has been applied to Kisai Online Wood for protection and durability.
A Futuristic Animation Feature
An animation mode is programmed into Kisai Online Wood. When activated the display will animate every two seconds. This can be turned on or off in the settings.
Download the PDF instruction manual for a detailed explanation of all functions and settings or check out the video above for a hands on demonstration.
Due to the natural qualities of wood, the color and grain may be slightly darker or lighter than shown in the photos.

Concept to Reality
In February 2010, Tokyoflash Japan opened its Design Studio Blog to showcase concept designs and request ideas for new watch designs from fans. The idea for Kisai Online was submitted by Sam Jerichow from Germany and was voted as one of the most popular designs by fans.
Find out more about the original concept on the Tokyoflash Design Studio Blog.
Blog reader & watch designer Sam Jerichow says:
On the day I found out about the Design Studio Blog, my brain began to work instantly. It was like an unlocked door was kicked wide open for me. I had some experiences playing around with clockworks but I never found a way to let this interest grow. I submitted design after design to the blog and while the hope that one of them would be chosen to get made was kept on a fair level, the addiction of seeing an idea from my sketch book being featured online increased week by week.
When I received the message about ONLINE being chosen for production, I could do nothing but smile! I actually hopped on my chair!
Since then, the news has haunted my head every day. After some months I was shown the first illustration and was utterly impressed. The first product images then just blew my eyes off! I thought "These can never be beaten by renderings." Seeing something real after making so many virtual images, feels great. Now I can hold ONLINE, a real product based on an idea of mine in my own hands – offline if you will. What an irony! And this is just awesome!
Thank you everyone at Tokyoflash for this wonderful experience and for doing such a good job! Thank you to all who supported me and still do! I hope you appreciate this result of inspiration and effort, like I do.
