Kisai OTO is the first sound sensitive watch from Tokyoflash Japan. The graphic equalizer display reacts to music and ambient sound creating a striking visual effect on your wrist.

Choose from blue, red, amber or green LCD with matching LED light guide. The custom designed case and strap is made of high grade black anodised aluminium and is one of the lightest watch designs available from Tokyoflash Japan.

Always On Digital LCD Watch with an LED Light Guide

Three display modes are programmed into Kisai OTO. Choose time only, time with equalizer or equalizer only. You can customise this to fit your environment.

In equalizer modes, the three bars react to different sound frequencies; highs, mids and lows. The LED light guide will illuminate to the beat when the ambient volume is loud enough - whether it's screaming highs or thumping lows.

Check out the video demo further down the page to see each mode in operation.

Time, Date, & Alarm Mode

Reading the time is as simple as any digital watch. Hours are shown horizontally in the upper left two columns, minutes are shown beneath. Seconds are shown vertically in the column on the right.

The date can be read in the same way with a touch of the lower button; the month horizontally in the upper left two columns, the day below and the year vertically on the right.

Kisai OTO also has an alarm mode and you can light up the display at any time by pressing the centre button.

USB Rechargeable Watch for Hours of Fun

Kisai OTO is a USB rechargeable watch. One charge will last for at least a month based on light use of the Equalizer function. If you're serving up the beats all night, full equalizer mode will last for at least seven hours.

To charge, just connect to your computer with the USB cable provided. It takes three hours to fully charge and there are more than 300 charges in one battery.

Control the Sound to Suit the Environment

Sound sensitivity can be controlled using the sensor on the left side of the watch - open to increase sound sensitivity, close to decrease sound sensitivity. The watch is 3ATM water resistant when the sound sensor is closed.

A Limited Edition Watch Design

Each part of Kisai OTO has been individually designed and manufactured, including the case, strap and uniquely programmed display. Like all watches from Tokyoflash Japan it is a limited edition design which means that it is guaranteed to be an original watch that not many other people own.

OTO means "sound" in Japanese. The name was chosen because the of the connection the design has with music.

Concept to Reality

In February 2010, Tokyoflash Japan opened its Design Studio Blog to showcase concept designs and request ideas for new watch designs from fans. The idea for Kisai OTO was submitted by Sam Jerichow from Germany. This is the tenth concept submitted by a fan to become reality.

Find out more about the original concept on the Tokyoflash Design Studio Blog.

Blog reader & watch designer Sam Jerichow says:

We know that watches can be more than just time tellers. They are gadgets, fashion accessories and fun objects. The idea of an equalizer like watch display came, when I saw one of the many reruns of Knight Rider. I was a big fan of K.I.T.T when I was a kid and i'm not alone. I early saw a connection to club music and thought that must have quite some fans too. I became enthusiastic and so quickly started to work on the concept.

After some weeks Tokyoflash contacted me with the intention to make the watch. They spent quite some time with researching and testing. I kept crossing my fingers that OTO will become reality and it did! When I saw the display reacting to sound for the first time, I laughed a bit in excitement. It really works! Thank you Tokyoflash for bringing my idea to life!

Also thank you to the blog readers and my supporters! Your input is always a pleasure. I know I have a special taste sometimes and I don't please everyone but with some of my work I'm reaching people and that's very encouraging.
